Driver Killed in Trucking Accident with Semi-Trailer

A trucking accident, involving two semi-trailer trucks, in Plainfield, killed a truck driver, according to authorities.

The accident occurred at 11:40 a.m. when a semi-trailer truck, traveling southbound on Interstate Highway 55, near U.S. Highway 30, struck another semi-trailer truck from behind, according to Illinois State Police.

One of the truck drivers died at the scene of the accident. Police are unsure if the other truck driver suffered any injuries in the accident.

Highway 55 was blocked off between the entrance ramp and exit ramp at Highway 30. The highway was expected to be reopened some time after noon.

The accident is currently under investigation.
